EXECUTIVE BOARD

Join our civic organization. We offer educational events on economic insights for professionals & students

The Piedmont Economics Club (PEC) was founded 50 years ago by Arthur McGill and a group of friends who were deeply concerned about the trajectory of the American capitalist economy. Committed to principles of free markets, small government, sound money, and rational debate, the early members envisioned PEC as a forum for meaningful discussion and education.

Early PEC members and university regulars included notable economists, policymakers, and scholars who contributed to the club's vibrant discussions and educational mission. For half a century, PEC has hosted nationally recognized speakers, fostering informed debate and economic understanding within the Greenville community.

How It All Started

As PEC looks to the future, it continues to uphold its legacy of education and informed discussion. The club now hosts six keynote speaking engagements annually, featuring economists and industry experts who provide valuable insights into economic trends and market shifts. Our events aim to support the community, students, and business owners of Greenville, SC, by offering access to cutting-edge economic knowledge and fostering a deeper understanding of capital markets.

We are dedicated to remaining a cornerstone of economic education and community engagement. By maintaining its commitment to high-quality, relevant discussions, the club ensures that its members are educated on economic challenges. With a strong foundation and a forward-thinking approach, PEC is poised to continue its mission of promoting economic literacy and fostering a vibrant community of informed individuals and students for the next 50 years and beyond.
